Saturday: Scarecrow, Lumberjack and Lumberjill Contests featured events

It’s the weekend and Day No. 3 has arrived of the 2021 Kiwanis Coweta County Fair. Gates open at noon today at the Coweta County Fairgrounds and Conference Center.
Saturday’s schedule is full of an assortment of entertainment, exhibits and competitions.
The entertainment features the Donald White The Science Guy (Exhibit Hall, 4 p.m.), a Police K-9 demonstration (Livestock Arena, 4 p.m.), Ask The Master Gardener (AG Building, 4-6 p.m.), Muttville Comix (Midway Annex), Southeastern Reptile Rescue Exhibit (Midway Annex), Moto Freestyle (Motorcycle Globe of Death) Show (Midway Showcase), and the Artisan Corner with Michael Sebacher. Amp’d Entertainment (Walker Horne Stage Lawn) and a DJ Dance Party are set from 6-9:30 p.m. And don’t forget about the nightly parade. Check signs for show times.
Two competitions take place at the Livestock Arena. The first is the Scarecrow Contest at 2 p.m. And the nightcap is the Lumberjack & Lumberjill contest. On-site registration begins at 6 p.m. for this exciting and competitive event! A fun, exciting favorite returns as contestants, 16 years and older, compete in sawing, log rolling, pulpwood tossing and pole climbing. You won’t want to miss this one. Come cheer on your favorite or better yet, join the fun and see if you can become Lumberjack or Lumberjill of the year!
Individual Exhibits also begin tonight in the Exhibit Hall at 5 pm.
Weather-wise, again not a complete washout but it will be muggy with a high near 80 degrees. Mostly cloudy with a 40-60 percent chance of isolated showers or a possible thunderstorm this afternoon and into the evening. No severe weather is forecast.
Fair hours on Saturday are noon to midnight. Gate admission is $5 with children 5 and under get in free. Parking is also free.
