Senoia Area Blood Drive takes place on May 3

A blood drive is scheduled for Monday, May 3 at the Senoia United Methodist Church from 1-5 p.m.
This blood drive is co-sponsored by the local church and the Optimist Club of Senoia. If you are unable to give, you are encouraged to notify others who may be able to donate.
Due to ongoing concerns relative to COVID-19, the following changes will continue to be in effect until further notice:
1. Donors are asked to enter the front door of the sanctuary where they can sign-in and wait while social distancing. (Signs will point the way.)
2. All staff, donors and volunteers are required to wear masks and have temperature checked before admittance into the blood drive.
3. All chairs and donor beds in the Fellowship Hall will be 6 feet apart, and the staff has increased its cleaning/sanitizing of all items.
4. While the sealed snacks and beverages provided by the Red Cross will still be available, the local drive will not provide its “famous” grilled cheese sandwiches. Similarly, the coupons associated with local area businesses will not be available. This will eliminate another “touch point” in the effort to not spread the virus.
Donors are encouraged to make an appointment for the upcoming blood drive either by signing up online at https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/find-drive or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). NOTE: If the appointment schedule is full (most recent drives have been full), walk-ins will likely not be able to donate.
The Red Cross is now testing all donors in their blood drives for COVID-19 antibodies. Participants will be notified 7-10 days after the donation with the results. While these tests can be very expensive from other sources, there is no charge in conjunction with the Red Cross blood drives.
Positive antibody test results do not confirm infection or immunity; a positive antibody test indicates potential exposure to the virus.
Please note the Red Cross is not testing donors to diagnose illness, including COVID-19. If you feel unwell for any reason, please postpone your donation. Individuals who believe they may be ill with COVID-19 should not attempt to donate until they are symptom free for 14 days and feeling well and healthy.
The Senoia United Methodist Church is in the historic district of Senoia and is located at 229 Bridge Street. It is at the intersection of Seavy and Bridge Streets. For those not familiar with the area, you can turn east at the downtown intersection of Main Street and Seavy Street, and go past Matt’s Smalltown Pizza and the Veranda Bed & Breakfast towards the Seavy Street City Park or State Highway 85. The church is on the right – only about 2 blocks east of Main Street.
There is a need for all blood types. You are encouraged to please schedule an appointment to donate blood today.
