Senoia Optimist Club announces Essay Contest Results

Optimist International’s annual Essay Contest, sponsored by the Senoia Optimist Club, is over for 2024-2025.
This year’s topic was “How Optimism Has Paved My Road to Success,” and information about the contest was shared with Coweta’s middle and high schools in the eastern half of Coweta County beginning in October 2024. Students would write a 700-800 word essay on this topic, and local Club prizes included Certificates of Participation, medallions, and cash awards. Winning essays are submitted to next-level competition, and final grand prizes are college scholarships.
Students from three different middle schools entered the contest this year. Thanks go to three teachers who encouraged and supported their young writers: Mrs. Adriana Cantwell from Lee Middle School, Mrs. Amanda Burdette at East Coweta Middle School, and Mrs. Laura Farmer from Bass Middle School.
Top honors went to 7th grader Susie Park from Lee Middle. Susie received a certificate, a gold medallion, and $50 cash. Her essay was forwarded to Zone-level competition at the end of January, and this is Susie’s second year as a first-place winner.
Second place award went to 7th grader Parker Bray, and there was a tie for third prize – seventh graders Claire McKenzie and Brianalisse Vazquez Resto. All three of these Bass Middle School students received certificates, medallions, and cash.
