Showers, thunderstorms possible later today; some could be severe

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City says there is a slight chance of severe weather later today here in Coweta County.
Thunderstorms are expected today as a cold front pushes through the area. A few strong to severe storms are possible. The primary hazard will be damaging winds, though hail and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
The showers and thunderstorms associated with the cold front will mainly occur after 2 p.m.
Today’s high is expected to be 72 degrees with south wind at 10-15 mph, gusting to 25. Chance of rain is 80 percent as between 1/4 to 1/2 inch is possible.
Rain chances with possible thunderstorms increase to 90 percent later tonight with an additional 1/2 to 3/4 inches possible. Winds will be from the west at 5-15 mph, gusting to 20.
Once the front moves through, Thursday’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and cooler with a high of 65 and winds around 10 mph, gusting to 20.
