Sports on TV: Braves, Hawks, United schedules for May 17-23
From Staff Reports
Three Atlanta professional sports teams will appear on television in the next week (May 17-23).
The Atlanta Braves enter this week’s action with a 19-21 record after just coming off a 2-4 week which included winning a series at Milwaukee over the weekend. The Braves are just 2 games back of the first-place New York Mets in the Major League Baseball’s National League East Division. Atlanta will open a seven-game home stand tonight against the first-place Mets, who are in town for 3 games, and then host the Pittsburgh Pirates for a 4-game series beginning Thursday. ESPN, Bally Sports South and Bally Sports Southeast will televise the action during the week.
The Atlanta Hawks clinched the No.5 overall seed in the NBA’s Eastern Conference with a perfect 4-0 week. The Hawks ended the regular season with a 41-31 record and won the Southeastern Division. Next up for Atlanta is a Best-of-7 Playoff Series against the No. 4 seed New York Knicks. Game 1 of the Hawks-Knicks series will be Sunday, May 23 and begins at 7 p.m. It will be televised on TNT.
And the Atlanta United scored a huge 1-0 victory over visiting CF Montreal in its lone action last week. United is now 2-1-2 in Major League Soccer play. Atlanta travels to the West Coast to face the always-tough Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday. The match will be televised by FOX.
