From Special Reports

Coweta Association of Retired Educators (CARE) invites all retired teachers, administrators, and support staff to the first meeting of the year at Royal Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 12, at 11:30 a.m.

As the featured speaker, State Representative Lynn R. Smith of Georgia’s 70th District, will review the 2023 General Assembly, preview legislation for 2024, and talk about Chattahoochee Bend State Park.

Awards will recognize the service of individual CARE members as well as honors the local unit won at the Georgia Retired Educators Association (GREA) 2023 state convention.

Marking the tenure of GREA’s new president, Joseph B. Boland, CARE’s 2023-2024 activities will focus on the state motto, “Get on the Bus.” Plans for upcoming service projects, programs, fundraisers, excursions, and social events will be announced at the September 12 meeting.

CARE welcomes all residents of Coweta County who have retired from any educational setting—public or private— to attend meetings and become members of the local unit and state organization.   Annual dues are $25 for CARE and $27 for GREA.  Membership forms for both organizations are available at each meeting.

The address for September’s meeting location, Royal Baptist Church, is 70 Mayo Royal Industrial Boulevard in Newnan.
