You know what they say: It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

We love the holidays at the Carnegie. Is there anything more beautiful than the Historic Downtown Newnan Square all lit up and looking festive? Our goal during this season is to celebrate our community and bring people together for enjoyable activities to get a little break from the holiday rush. We have many amazing free programs for all ages.

Lunch & Learn: A Musical Christmas – December 8th 12:00 pm.: Join the Carnegie and the Newnan Carnegie Library Foundation as we welcome the Trinity Christian School High School Chamber Group. These students are a combined band and orchestra, performing custom arrangements and will be playing some Christmas favorites. This program promises to be a highlight of the Christmas 2023 season in Newnan! Registrants are invited to bring their own lunch to the event. Doors open at 11:30 am. Program begins at 12 noon sharp and ends at 1:00 pm. Holiday Ornaments for Adults December 12 th 2:30 pm. Join us as we have fun crafting holiday ornaments! All materials are provided but we have limited space available.

Hometown Novel Nights – December 14th 5:30 pm: Join the Carnegie and Hometown Novel Writers Association as we Fall Into New books and celebrate the holiday season. Join the Newnan Carnegie Library and Hometown Novel Writers Association as we fall into a new season with some wonderful new reads! Our special guests will be: Katherine Nichols, G.A. (Gabby) Anderson, Birdy Rivers, and D.K. (Dee) Marley. Hear how they created their works, find out what inspires them, discover who they are, and how their experiences have been culminated in their books. **There will be a special holiday social from 5:30 to 6:30pm prior to the event. Bring your favorite holiday treats and sweets to share!

Family Ornament Making Day – December 15th 4:00 pm: Join the Carnegie for a rollicking good time with your family making ugly sweater ornaments for the holiday season. Don’t forget to wear your own ugly sweater! Hot chocolate will be served. For families 3 years old and up.

Teen Open Art – December 16th 10:00 am: Join Ms. Elizabeth for a teen open art. Come explore your creativity at the Carnegie! Art supplies provided including special holiday art. For ages 12-18.

Polar Express Day – December 18th 10:30 am: Join the City of Newnan for this multi-location event. We will begin by watching the Polar Express movie, with popcorn, at the Wadsworth Auditorium (doors will open at 10am). After the movie, rotating groups will be designated to join crafts and activities at either the Newnan Carnegie Library or the Children Connect Museum. This FREE event does not require a sign up.

Ken Scott Magic Show – December 21st 10:00 am: Join us for a special holidayprogram featuring Ken Scott. The very popular magician, illusionist, and humorist.

Registration begins December 7th on Eventbrite. All ages are welcome.

Susan Crutchfield is the director of the Carnegie Library in Historic Downtown Newnan. She also is a professional photographer and enjoys volunteering with the Newnan ArtRez and the Newnan Theatre Company.
