Weather: Wet, cool work week ahead for Coweta

Look for a mostly wet forecast for much of the work week here in Coweta County and turning cooler, says the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

The NWS is giving rain probabilities at 60 percent today and tonight, 30 percent on Tuesday, 60 percent on Wednesday and 40 percent on Thursday. Clearing should begin late Thursday as a nice weekend is in store beginning with sunny skies on Friday.

The high temperatures today and Tuesday will be in the upper 70s, before dropping to only 62 on Wednesday and Thursday as a cold front pushes through. Overnight lows will be in the upper 40s both Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

A warming trend begins Friday with a high of 72. On Saturday, the high is expected to be 76, then 80 on Sunday under sunny skies.

MONDAY – A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 78. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

MONDAY NIGHT – Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 7pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 7pm and midnight, then a slight chance of showers after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

TUESDAY – A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. North wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

TUESDAY NIGHT – A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

WEDNESDAY – Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Cloudy, with a high near 62. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

THURSDAY – A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 62.

FRIDAY – Sunny, with a high near 72.

SATURDAY – Sunny, with a high near 76.
