August 25 – FRIDAY

3rd Annual Clays for Community Sporting Clay Shoot

Sailing Towards The Sun
3-6 p.m. at Chattahoochee Bend State Park, 425 Bob White Way, Newnan
Join the park as we take a look at the sun! We will be looking for sunspots with Astronomer Klaus Hodapp through a solar filtered telescope. $5 per vehicle, and make sure to pre-register with the Visitor Center at 770-254-7271.

The Importance of Being Earnest

Tickets are $25 for adults, $18 for seniors (over 65) and students, children under 10 $15. Thursday performances – all tickets $15. Oscar Wilde’s classic is a delight from the first cucumber sandwich on as Jack’s double life catches up with him. The problems are resolved in an extremely charming and quite unexpected way as Jack and Algernon discover the importance of being earnest while answering to the name of Ernest. August 26 – SATURDAY

Hike & Paddle
8 a.m. at Chattahoochee Bend State Park, 425 Bob White Way, Newnan
Guests will meet at the Visitor Center to complete paperwork then we’ll start our 5.5-mile hike from the Day Use area up the easy to moderate Riverside Trail at 9 a.m. After arriving at the Back-country camping area we’ll take a short break for lunch and then begin a leisurely 3.5-mile float back down the river, ending up right where we started at the Day Use area. Guests can rent a kayak from the park or bring their own and we’ll haul it up to the Back-country area for you. The cost is just $30 per person (plus boat rental – $20+tax). Additionally, all participants are required to purchase a parking pass ($5) or possess a valid annual State Park pass (not a National Park pass) or Friends of Georgia State Parks pass. All participants should wear clothing suitable for hiking and that they don’t mind getting wet. Sunglasses with a strap and a wide brimmed hat are a good idea while on the river but not required. Additionally, everyone is required to wear a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) while on the river (PFD is provided with boat rental). Click on THIS LINK to sign up.

Senoia Farmers Market
8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at 40 Travis Street, Senoia
It is a community-oriented marketplace that features a variety of local farmers, food producers, artisans, and craftsmen. You can find a wide selection of fresh produce, including fruits and vegetables, herbs, and flowers. There are also local food producers selling homemade baked goods, jams and jellies, honey, and other artisanal products. The market also features handmade crafts, such as pottery, jewelry, and textiles. Visitors can enjoy live music, food trucks, and other family-friendly activities.  EVERY Saturday.

Serenbe Farmers Market
9 a.m. -1 p.m. at 9110 Selborne Lane, Palmetto
Serenbe Farmers Market offers a variety of healthy foods and artisanal goods on a large green space surrounded by a canopy of trees. Spend the morning shopping for your weekly groceries or unique gifts & wears while enjoying the beauty of nature.

Peachtree City Market
9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Aberdeen Village Shopping Center, Aberdeen Parkway, Peachtree City
This market brings approximately 60 vendors offering a variety of fresh produce, poultry, beef and pork, bread, sweet treats, honey, eggs, prepared foods and so much more. It’s the perfect place to find the consummate gift for the foodie in your life and visitors will also find live music going on.

Brooks Market
9 a.m.-2 p.m. at 961 Highway 85 Connector, Brooks
This event occurs the 4th Saturday of each month (January-October). Honey, cakes, coffees and teas, arts, crafts, soaps, treats for pets and much more.

Journey To Calm
10 a.m. at the Newnan Carnegie Library, 1 LaGrange Street, Newnan
Join the Newnan Carnegie Library and Sarah Leatherman as we go on a journey of sound healing. We will begin with some gentle movement, then work through some guided breath-work practices to help center and focus the mind, followed by an immersion of sound allowing you to drift into a meditative state. Relax and put your mind at ease this season. Please bring your own yoga mat, the Carnegie mats are available to use upon request while supplies last. Painting in the Park

Join us in painting something at the park, from the smallest beetle to the tallest tree. Supplies will be provided, and the program will take place in the Day Use Area. $3 per person, and a $5 park pass for your vehicle. Make sure to pre-register with the visitor center at 770-254-7271.
