Humorist Jean Shepherd’s memoir of growing up in the Midwest in the 1940s follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher and even Santa Claus himself at Higbee’s Department Store. The consistent response: “You’ll shoot your eye out!” All the elements from the beloved motion picture are here. Free weekly drive-thru food pantry. Boxes typically include frozen meat, fresh fruits and produce, dairy, bread and desserts. First come, first served. Registration is required on site the day of distribution.

Bring family and friends to enjoy the Sharpsburg Market. It’s hosted by Team Hungry (student-led nonprofit) to cultivate community. NEWNAN CHRISTMAS PARADE

The city of Newnan is the host of the annual Christmas Parade. The theme of the 2024 Parade is “Christmas Classics.” The parade will start from the corner of LaGrange Street and Cavendar Street (near Dunc’s BBQ and the University of West Georgia campus) and will proceed through downtown Newnan, ending at Salbide Avenue.
