June 2, FRIDAY

Fantastic Friday Movie

10:30 a.m. at Peachtree City Library, 201 Willowbend Road, Peachtree City
Today’s movie is Encanto, Rated PG. Will be in the Children’s Storytime Area.

Lunch & Learn with AJC Reporter Chris Joyner
11:30 a.m. at Newnan Carnegie Library, 1 LaGrange Street, Newnan
Join the Newnan Carnegie Library Foundation and guest speaker Chris Joyner, an investigative reporter with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, as he talks about his journey unearthing the trials of Carrollton sharecropper Clarence Henderson and its generational impact on a family and community. It’s a mix of true crime and courtroom drama with a deep look at America in the decade following World War II when massive social change, political division, and deep paranoia threatened to tear the nation apart.  Registrants are invited to bring their own lunch to the event. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Program begins at 12 noon sharp and ends at 1 p.m. Registration:

Christian City Race for Safe Place
7:30 a.m. Registration, 8:30 a.m. Start at Christian City campus, 7345 Red Oak Road, Union City
Hosted by the Christian City Teen Board. Run for Fun, Run to Change Lives. Registration is $40 per runner. 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk.

Paint Recycling Event
8 a.m. – Noon at Newnan City Hall Parking Lot, 25 LaGrange Street, Downtown Newnan
Hosted by Keep Newnan Beautiful. Wet Paint only. Spray Paint Cans, $2 each; Latex Paint, $4 per gallon; Oil Paint, $5 per gallon; Deck/Wood Stain, $4 per gallon.

Senoia Farmers’ Market
8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at 40 Travis Street, Senoia
Locally sourced market. EVERY Saturday.

2nd Annual Cruizin Coweta Car Show
9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Coweta County Fairgrounds, 275 Pine Road, Newnan
Many awards, giveaways, food trucks and DJ. $5 admission.

Peachtree City Market
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Aberdeen Village Shopping Center, Aberdeen Parkway, Peachtree City
This market brings approximately 60 vendors offering a variety of fresh produce, poultry, beef and pork, bread, sweet treats, honey, eggs, prepared foods and so much more. It’s the perfect place to find the consummate gift for the foodie in your life and visitors will also find live music going on.

Coweta Democrats Monthly Meeting
9:30 a.m. at Southern Arc Dance Studio, 40 Greenway Court, Newnan

Market Day
10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Courthouse Square, Downtown Newnan
Hosted by Main Street Newnan on the first Saturday of every month. The Market features over 55 unique spaces, with a variety of one-of-a-kind gift items. Market Day favorites include: fresh locally grown produce, honey, jams & jellies, pottery, art, hand-woven baskets, leather products, etc.

Coweta County African American Heritage Museum Grand Opening
10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at 92 Farmer Street, Newnan

Coweta Public Library System Kickoff Party
10 a.m. – Noon at Powell Branch, 25 Hospital Road, Newnan.
10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Central Library, 85 Literary Lane, Newnan.
11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Senoia Branch, 148 Pylant Street, Senoia.
This party kicks off a summer full of books, new experiences, exploration, kindness and unity as part of the Summer Reading Challenge.
