A couple of events this weekend in downtown Newnan will keep folks busy and running/walking.
The Robert Burns Weekend, which celebrates the Newnan-Coweta and Ayr-Ayshire, Scotland sister city/county relationship takes center stage on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And the 17th Annual Run For Angels and Chicken Q will fill downtown with a plethora of runners and walkers for this great fundraiser.
There is also a paper shredding / paint recycling event in Newnan on Saturday, a couple of neat activities at the Chattahoochee Bend State Park also on Saturday and live/local music on both Friday and Saturday.
And Sunday, it’s America’s sporting event – Super Bowl LIII from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.
Weather-wise, not a bad weekend as temperatures will reach 60 degrees Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Mostly sunny skies on Friday, then mostly cloudy Saturday and cloudy with a 30 percent rain chance on Sunday.

Exercise is Medicine
The Carnegie Library hosts this 45-minute class on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. A wellness class for prevention and management of chronic disease conditions. Call for details.

Scottish Country Dance
This event will be held at the Southern Arc Dance Center and is part of the Robert Burns Weekend and celebrating the Newnan – Coweta and Ayr – Ayshire, Scotland sister city/county relationship, our area’s Scottish heritage and all things Scottish has grown in size and popularity. It is sponsored by The Newnan-Coweta Historical Society, Newnan Cultural Arts Commission and The Order of the Tartan Chattahoochee Hills.

Run For Angels and Chicken Q
The 17th Annual Run For Angels starts at the First United Methodist Parish Hall on Greenville Street. The 2019 Angel’s House Chicken Q will, once again, be held in conjunction with our Run For Angel’s in the First United Methodist Church Parish Hall. Included is Huckleberry’s famous chicken, potato salad, bread, baked beans and delicious homemade desserts in our Chicken Q plates! The drive-thru and walk-in pick-up line will open at 10 a.m. for those who would like “to go” plates. Of course, you are welcome to eat in the Church Parish Hall beginning at 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

For ages 4-8 at the Peachtree City Library. As a Girl Scout Gold Award Project, come join us for a fun day of learning about the German culture and language! Tara Winds at The Nixon Centre
Tara Winds is an all-adult symphonic band celebrating over 30 years of excellence in musical performance. Founders, Larry Volman, Ed Davis, and David Gregory envisioned Tara Winds to be a performance medium for local musicians and to encourage school band members to continue performing after completion of their formal studies. Their mission statement, Music: Enjoyment for All Ages, expresses the commitment of our founders that music is a source of life-long enjoyment. Tara Winds is composed primarily of musicians from metropolitan Atlanta, but draws its total membership from instrumentalists from throughout Georgia.
