CARROLLTON – Year two of the Division I football era is now underway at the University of West Georgia as head coach Joel Taylor and his staff officially welcomed their roster back to campus last week.

Taylor and the Wolves, 4-7 a year ago, take to the practice field 11 times between report day and the first day of classes at UWG, August 13. UWG’s first day of full pads in practice is today (Aug. 5) while the first intrasquad scrimmage will take place on the evening of August 9 at 7 p.m.

“I’m looking forward to start fall camp and continue the improvement and growth of our football program. We’re expecting major improvements from year one to year two,” said Taylor.

While practices are closed to the general public, the August 9 scrimmage is open to the public to give fans their first look at the 2025 Wolves.

Three former Coweta County standouts are on the Wolves’ 2025 roster. The trio includes senior linebacker Christian Hanson of Trinity Christian, freshman linebacker Lucas Naquin of East Coweta and freshman tight end Kaden Hanson also of Trinity Christian.

Fans are also invited to come out on August 16 for Victory Day and Junior Wolves Kickoff. On that day, the Wolves will hold a 10 a.m. scrimmage and there will be bounce houses on hand for the youngest Wolves fans. The kids’ activities will begin at 11 a.m. during the scrimmage and players will be on hand for autographs and pictures following the scrimmage at approximately 12:30 p.m. Complete details and info regarding Victory Day will be released in the days ahead.
