The final weekend in September will be a busy one in and around Coweta County.
And it’s the final weekend of the Kiwanis Coweta County Fair with hours of 5-midnight on Friday, noon-midnight on Saturday and 2-10 p.m. on Sunday.
Also on Friday, five local squads are in action on the gridiron with Northgate and Central Christian each hosting Homecoming. And if you were in to the 1970s disco scene, then The Fred Amphitheater is where you want to be as K.C. and the Sunshine Band hit the stage.
On Saturday, Bike Coweta and Atlanta Trek sponsor Bike Your Park Weekend, Keep Newnan Beautiful hosts its 2019 Stream Cleanup, the annual Dragon Boat Festival gets going at Drake Field in Peachtree City, the Low-Cost Vaccine Clinic is at Help Spay/Neuter in Avery Park, there’s the 12th Annual Joey’s Motorcycle Ride, and the Annual Cruisin to the Oldies event in downtown Senoia.
And Sunday, the Coweta Samaritan Clinic hosts its Bluegrass & BBQ fundraiser, there’s a pair of theatrical performances – “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Events” at the Legacy Theatre in Tyrone and “The Jungle Book” at Serenbe Playhouse and finally, Fat Boys Bar and Grill hosts its Hogleg Day Benefit.

Weather-wise, another hot weekend with highs forecast in the 90s and lows near 70 degrees. There is a slight chance (30 percent) of rain today and tonight, then 20 percent tomorrow. Saturday’s heat index value will be 97.

Newnan Trolley Service
This free service is offered to take riders from downtown Newnan to Ashley Park. Runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Pickup locations at City Hall, the Governor Ellis Arnall Parking Lot on Madison Street, and Ashley Park at Dillard’s (West Entrance) and Regal Cinemas. The first pickup is at 1 p.m. at City Hall with the last full route starting at 7 p.m.

The final weekend of the Kiwanis Coweta County Fair begins tonight. Ride armbands are available for purchase at the fair which give customers unlimited rides on the day of issue. For Fridays, Ride Armbands are $30. Individual tickets for rides are also available during normal fair hours. Cost of rides vary. Strange LaGrange: Ghosts, Legends, & Spirited History – A Walking Tour
Join Troup County Historical Society Docent and Southern Spirit Guide, Lewis Powell, for a ghostly tour of downtown LaGrange to hear about the spirited history of Troup County and those who call it home. Tours will depart from the Legacy Museum on Main, rain or shine, and move through the downtown area. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, bring a water bottle, and an umbrella if the weather calls for rain!

Bike Your Park Weekend
Join Atlanta Trek Newnan and Bike Coweta in celebration of Bike your Park Day for a 45 or 60 mile road bike ride along some of Coweta County’s most scenic roads. 12-15 mile mountain bike route also available! Atlanta Trek Newnan will open will open at 7 a.m. and the ride takes off at 8 a.m. Food, games, and comradery will commence after the ride with our partners from Abide Brewing Company at the Newnan shop. Onsite Registration: $25 donation to Bike Coweta is encouraged to benefit Bike Coweta Programs such as Brown’s Mill Battlefield Trail Fund and Bike Coweta Earn-A-Bike Program.

Dragon Boat Festival
