From Coweta County Press Release

Sid Bedenbaugh has been named Director of Transportation Planning for Coweta County.

In this role, Sid will manage long-range, multi-modal transportation planning projects. He will work closely with federal, state, regional and local officials on transportation planning, project programming, and policies to ensure that current and future transportation needs of the County are identified and solutions to those needs are developed in a timely and efficient manner.

“I’m excited for this new opportunity,” shares Sid. “I’m looking forward to expanding upon my engineering and right-of-way experience to grow transportation planning and continue to build strong relationships at the local, state and regional levels.”

Sid has worked for Coweta County for almost 21-years, beginning with the Transportation and Engineering Department which later transitioned into the Public Works Department. He began his career as a Right-of-Way agent, learning all phases of right-of-way acquisition. He was then given the additional responsibility of overseeing the utility permitting process. He became the Right-of-Way and Utilities Manager where he oversaw right-of-way and utility permitting within the County. He served in this role for eight years during which he continued to take on more responsibility, reviewing engineering plans and managing right-of-way matters. Sid comes from a long-standing family of service-oriented citizens working for Coweta County.

“We are looking forward to having Sid serve as the new Director of Transportation Planning,” shares Assistant Administrator Kelly Mickle.  “His knowledge of Coweta County, experience within Public Works and ability to foster relationships with state and local officials, as well as the community, will serve the citizens well in this role.”

In addition to transportation planning, Sid will oversee the County’s public transit program, Coweta Connect, including working with various state and federal agencies on funding and compliance, as well as evaluating future needs and growth of the program. He will also act as the County’s Title VI Coordinator for surface transportation, public transit and airport projects ensuring compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related laws and regulations, among various other tasks.

Sid has lived close to the Senoia area of Coweta County for his entire life and is very familiar with not only the opportunities that the County’s growth has provided during his lifetime, but also with the transportation challenges that come with that growth. He is a 3rd generation graduate of East Coweta High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration (BBA) from Georgia Southern University where he met his wife, Melissa. Together, they have two children: Hunter (14) and Sydney (11).  He enjoys spending time with his family and being a travel sports dad for his kids.
