Norma Haynes Named 2022 Citizen of the Year

Norma Haynes, known for her steadfast support of the men and women in local public safety, was named the 2002 Citizen of the Year.

Miss Norma is the driving force behind the Newnan-Coweta Public Safety Committee. They put on an annual luncheon for all public safety employees and the homemade desserts are known far and wide. In addition, the committee purchase needed equipment for the various public safety departments; provides scholarships; and helps with emergency funding.

The annual COTY event, which was postponed last year due to COVID-19, is sponsored by the Kiwanis Clubs of Coweta County.

It was the 30th anniversary of the event and a record number of tickets were sold. A total of 12 individuals were nominated, one of the highest in recent history.

The award is designed to honor an individual with outstanding leadership and citizenship within the community, someone who has demonstrated exemplary vision, civic pride, and a strong commitment to a better Coweta through volunteerism and community involvement.
