The City of Newnan Fire Department celebrated Firefighter Cornell Rollins’ retirement after 26 years of service. At his retirement celebration at Station 1, Firefighter Rollins remarked that he enjoyed his lengthy career with the Newnan Fire Department. “I just really appreciated the opportunity to be with all you guys,” he said. “It was well worth the journey.”

Sid Bedenbaugh has been named Director of Transportation Planning for Coweta County. In this role, Sid will manage long-range, multi-modal transportation planning projects. He will work closely with federal, state, regional and local officials on transportation planning, project programming, and policies.

2023 ACT results released in October showed that the Coweta County School System’s 2023 graduates overall outscored U.S. graduates on the college entrance exam. The school system’s average composite ACT score rose to 21.3 among its 2023 graduates, compared to an overall national composite score of 19.5 and a Georgia composite score of 21.3.
