Update on 57 E Broad St Project

Last year I wrote an article about 57 E. Broad St., located in downtown Newnan. There is significant progress regarding this development recently. The site has been cleared and dirt is moving. You may remember 57 E Broad St was the site for the Caldwell Tanks business for a very long time. Well, 57 E Broad is about to be a very large and private, not city-led, mixed-use development.
What exactly does mixed-use mean and entail? If you have not visited the 57 E Broad St’s website (57-east.com) or social media pages, I would highly recommend doing so. The site and pages are as informative and rich with content as any local development that I have seen. The overall development is planned to bring together a mix of uses including restaurants, boutique retail, residential lofts, office and commercial space, greenspace, a hotel and a connection with the LINC trail network. There will also be a large food hall, Market 57. The hotel is currently planned as a Courtyard by Marriot. This is nice to see as there is a need for a hotel in downtown Newnan.
There will be a new entrance on the south side of the site as well. Right now, you can access the property from E. Broad St on the northern side of the property. When the development is ready, you will be able to access the property from Salbide St as well.
Another key component of the development is 22 E Broad St. This is currently the site for the Coweta County Administration building and has been for a very long time. This will be the site of the parking deck for 57 E Broad St as well as public parking. If you work, live, or visit downtown, you may know there is a significant need for parking downtown.
This overview of the property from 57 East gives you an idea of both the layout and type of uses in the development:
