City Of Newnan Reopening Most Services, Buildings


City of Newnan Issues Update on Services and Facilities – Beginning on June 15, the following city facilities, departments, programs, and services will be reopened to the public with full access, in accordance with the practice of maintaining social distancing and general health guidelines for individuals and organizations:

    • Newnan Police Department
    • Newnan Fire Department
    • Public Works
    • Streets
    • City Garage
    • Cemetery
    • Beautification
    • Facility Maintenance
    • Newnan City Hall
    • Main Street Newnan
    • Keep Newnan Beautiful
    • Leisure Services
    • Carnegie Library

Municipal Court: Newnan Municipal Court will begin open court sessions beginning on June 15, 2020. Guidelines and procedures have been implemented for all open courtroom sessions by the Order of the Court. These guidelines shall be followed by all court personnel and citizens to the extent practicable for the operation of the Municipal Court of Newnan, Georgia. To view these guidelines, click here.

Main Street Newnan & Keep Newnan Beautiful: Main Street Newnan & Keep Newnan Beautiful offices will reopen to the public will full access and will consider hosting events as scheduled

Leisure Services: Leisure Services will reopen to the public with full access and will consider hosting events and programs as scheduled. Rentals and facility use will be permitted according to the following:

  • Howard Warner Community Center
    • Multipurpose Room: 20 persons
  • Classrooms: 8 persons
  • Kitchenette: 2 persons
  • Howard Warner Gymnasium: 45 persons
  • Wesley Street Gymnasium: 45 persons
  • Wadsworth Auditorium: 300 persons

Carnegie Library: The Newnan Carnegie Library will resume normal business hours and will be open to the public, Monday – Friday during the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Meeting room rentals will resume and will be available during regular business hours and will be limited to groups of 35.

For the safety of patrons and instructors, the Carnegie will not resume regularly scheduled programs such as EIM and Gentle Yoga at this time.

All patrons will be required to maintain the recommended social distancing guidelines and wear a face mask or covering while in the building.

City Pool @ Lynch Park: At this time, the city pool at Lynch Park remains closed to the public. A re-opening date has not been set at this time. Once a date has been set, we will inform the public as soon as possible.

City Trolley: The City Trolley will begin operations on Friday, June 19, 2020, with limited capacity and hours of operation. Hours of operation will be from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m., with stops at Newnan City Hall, Regal Cinemas (at Ashley Park), and Dillard’s West Entrance.

In an effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, we will take extra measures to keep our passengers and trolley drivers safe:

  • We ask that riders take precautions by using face coverings or masks when riding on the trolley
  • Keep a 6 ft. distance from yourself and others; only one rider per every other bench will be allowed; we will limit the number of riders on the trolley.

We will continue taking the health and safety of our community as a top priority for the City of Newnan. City leadership and staff are working diligently every day to make sure that we are doing all that we can to help keep our residents and businesses safe, healthy, and informed as we help to minimize the impact of COVID-19 throughout our community.
