Below are fun, educational and family-friendly events in-and-around Coweta County for the remainder of July. Also, we’ve listed six Back-to-School events here in Coweta.

July 26 – WEDNESDAY

Coweta County Farmers Market / Newnan
8:30 a.m.-Noon at Asa M. Powell Sr. Expo Center, 197 Temple Avenue, Newnan
Every Wednesday and Saturday (thru mid-October) Local farmers  offer homegrown fruits, vegetables, homemade food items, plants and more!

Peachtree City Market
9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Aberdeen Village Shopping Center, Aberdeen Parkway, Peachtree City
This market – open Wednesday and Saturday – brings approximately 60 vendors offering a variety of fresh produce, poultry, beef and pork, bread, sweet treats, honey, eggs, prepared foods and so much more. It’s the perfect place to find the consummate gift for the foodie in your life and visitors will also find live music going on.

Adaptive Sports: Swimming

Back 2 School Bash
4-7 p.m. at Coweta County Fairgrounds, 275 Pine Road, Newnan
It is BACK! Tim Stout Group and My Brokerage are hosting our 2nd annual Back-to-School Bash! There will be food, fun games, performances, and a few special guests! It’s sure to be a fun time! We are so excited to be able to give back to the kids of our community again this year. With your generous donations of school supplies, we aim to provide students in need with brand new backpacks filled with all the supplies they need to excel this upcoming school year. (While supplies lasts) Children must be present to receive a backpack. Join us in spreading the joy of learning and giving back to our community. Together, let’s make a difference and have some fun! July 27 – THURSDAY

End of Summer Sidewalk Party
10 a.m. at Newnan Carnegie Library, 1 LaGrange Street, Newnan • 770-683-1347
Join the Carnegie for an end of summer sidewalk party with crafts, games, bubbles, chalk painting, and more! This will be a drop-in event. Come at whatever time you would like! Registration is required. To register, visit EVENTBRITE.

Education Summit ‘The State of Black Boys’
10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at University of West Georgia Newnan Campus, 80 Jackson Street, Newnan
The summit aims to address the critical issues faced by Black boys in education and provide actionable solutions to foster their success. Dr. Frankie Bell and Deacon Felix C. Bell will serve as the hosts for this important event, which brings together renowned experts, educators, community leaders, and stakeholders. Guest speakers include Dr. Ortha Thornton, Jerome Cofield, Kevin Jones and Virgil McIver. The educational summit will feature informative discussions, interactive sessions, and practical strategies designed to empower educators, parents, and community leaders. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with the panelists, share their experiences, and gain valuable insights into ensuring the success and well-being of Black boys. Back To School Bash Concert
6-8 p.m. at The Avenue, 239 City Circle, Peachtree City
Bring your friends to The Avenue and dress like you have been transported back to the 90s! A 90s tribute band (90210 Radio), face painting, balloon artist, inflatable slide and zip line all await you in Central Park.

July 28 – FRIDAY

Broadway Dance Class Performance
8 p.m. at Newnan Theatre Company, 24 1st Avenue, Newnan • 770-683-6282
The NTC Broadway Dance class is having a FREE performance. Attendees can enjoy a showcase of dances the class has learned this summer, as well as performances of Broadway show tunes by vocalists. The event is open to the public, so anyone interested in dance or musical theatre can attend. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to see these talented performers showcase their skills!

July 29 – SATURDAY

Hike and Paddle
8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Chattahoochee Bend State Park, 425 Bob White Way, Newnan
Guests will meet at the Visitor Center to complete paperwork then we’ll start our 5.5-mile hike from the Day Use area up the easy to moderate Riverside Trail at 9 a.m. After arriving at the Back-country camping area we’ll take a short break for lunch and then begin a leisurely 3.5-mile float back down the river, ending up right where we started at the Day Use area. Guests can rent a kayak from the park or bring their own and we’ll haul it up to the Back-country area for you. The cost is just $30 per person (plus boat rental – $20+tax). Additionally, all participants are required to purchase a parking pass ($5) or possess a valid annual State Park pass (not a National Park pass) or Friends of Georgia State Parks pass. All participants should wear clothing suitable for hiking and that they don’t mind getting wet. Sunglasses with a strap and a wide brimmed hat are a good idea while on the river but not required. Additionally, everyone is required to wear a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) while on the river (PFD is provided with boat rental). Click on THIS LINK to sign up.

Senoia Farmers Market
8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at 40 Travis Street, Senoia
It is a community-oriented marketplace that features a variety of local farmers, food producers, artisans, and craftsmen. You can find a wide selection of fresh produce, including fruits and vegetables, herbs, and flowers. There are also local food producers selling homemade baked goods, jams and jellies, honey, and other artisanal products. The market also features handmade crafts, such as pottery, jewelry, and textiles. Visitors can enjoy live music, food trucks, and other family-friendly activities.  EVERY Saturday.

Serenbe Farmers Market
9 a.m. -1 p.m. at 9110 Selborne Lane, Palmetto
Serenbe Farmers Market offers a variety of healthy foods and artisanal goods on a large green space surrounded by a canopy of trees. Spend the morning shopping for your weekly groceries or unique gifts & wears while enjoying the beauty of nature.

Peachtree City Market

Ice Cream Sundae Party
10 a.m. at Newnan Carnegie Library, 1 LaGrange Street, Newnan
Newnan Mayor Keith Brady will celebrate his Summer Reading Challenge with participants by hosting an Ice Cream Sundae Party. Participants bring your completed logs. RSVP at HERE.

Kids Day at Smallcakes

Come out and have fun with us. We are doing a back to school giveaways, photo booth, free snacks and drinks, school supply raffles and prizes and more.

Back To School Community Event
11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 87 Pinson Street, Newnan
Bring your students out to receive some school supplies and other resources. Backpack Buddies along with school representatives from Welch Elementary, Lee Middle School and East Coweta High School will be on site. Students of all ages are invited to participate. Food will be provided – hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and Whit’s Custard.

Southern Arc Dance Open House
Noon-4 p.m. at Southern Arc Dance, 40 Greenway Court, Suite D, Newnan • 770-683-3724
Come try a Free Class during Southern Arc Dance’s Open House. Dance for all ages. Register at southernarcdance.org.

2nd Annual Back To School Bash & Backpack Giveaway
1-4 p.m. at The Gym, Central Educational Center, 160 MLK Jr., Drive, Newnan
Hosted by Caring Hearts of Georgia Health Services and Coweta Family Connection. Will be giving away 500 backpacks filled with school supplies (while supplies last), food, fun, door prizes and music. Bring the kids out for a good time.

Stilettos on Steel Newnan Chapter Launch Party
4-8 p.m. at Bigfoot Cycles, 194 Greenville Street, Newnan
The Stilettos on Steel – Newnan – City of Homes Chapter officially launched in late May of this year and will have its first event at Bigfoot Cycles. The Stilettos on Steel, LLC organization is a female-owned business that provides membership and networking services to female motorcycle riders across the United States, including now here in Georgia. Kids Day at Smallcakes

July 31 – MONDAY

3-D Print Club
4 p.m. at Powell Branch Library, 25 Hospital Road, Newnan • 770-253-3625
This meeting is for current (or prospective) Tweens & Teens members of the 3-D print club to get together to pick up each participants 3-D print and to discuss any challenges or learned shortcuts of that months project. We will also discuss the next months project. Meetings are not mandatory to be a part of the 3-D print club. Meet The Teacher

Back To School Bash / Orientation

Come out and have a great evening with the JPES Family! You will have an opportunity to meet your student’s teacher and see the classroom. Also enjoy food and fun sponsored by New Dimensions Church! We look forward to seeing you and your student! If you are not able to attend the Back-to-School Bash, then come to ORIENTATION on Tuesday, August 1 from noon – 2 p.m. (You do not have to attend both.)
