Coweta County Now Has Seven Reported COVID-19 Deaths


Updated (7 p.m.) – Coweta’s cumulative totals for Thursday’s Daily Status Report from the Georgia Department of Public Health are 303 cases, 7 deaths, 49 hospitalizations.

(4:30 p.m.) – Coweta County now has 291 reported cases of the coronavirus, with seven deaths reported, two of which came this week from a nursing home.

Those two deaths were reported Wednesday in the Georgia Long-Term Care Facility Report. Both of those deaths occurred at Newnan Health and Rehabilitation, which had 14 positive cases and two resident deaths since Monday.

Deidre Wilkes, 42, was the first reported corona-related death in Coweta. She died on March 19.

The other deaths were posted on the Georgia Department of Public Health Daily Status Report.

1st victim – Wilkes, 42, female (March 19)

2nd victim – male, 77 (March 23)

3rd victim – female, 58 (April 15)

4th victim – female, 84 (April 20)

5th victim – female, 63 (May 4)

6th and 7th victims – female, 90+, female 58 (May 20).
