Coweta Schools Pre-K Applications this week, Online Student Registrations underway

From Coweta County Schools Press Release
Coweta County School System elementary schools will continue to take applications for the 2020-21 Pre-Kindergarten lottery drawing on May 26 through noon on May 29.
This year’s Pre-Kindergarten application process was interrupted by the closure of schools on March 12. The four-day period in late May will complete that process and will end on May 29 with a drawing for next year’s classes. Parents who already applied for the 2020 Pre-K lottery between March 2 and March 12 will not need to re-apply.

New applications will be taken at parents’ districted elementary schools from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on May 26, 27 and 28, and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday, May 29. This year’s drawing will be held for the limited Pre-K classes at 1 p.m. on May 29.
Children must be four (4) years old on or before September 1, 2020 to be eligible to participate in the Pre-K Program. To apply for Pre-K slots, parents must bring photo identification for the parent, a birth certificate for the applying child, and one form of proof of residence (including, for example, a mortgage document or a security deed, apartment, lease or rent receipt indicating the current address, a current electrical bill, property tax records or voter precinct identification card).
Documents and applications will be accepted at the school via drive through method. Social distancing will be maintained at each site. Parents should remain in their vehicles during this time, and will be met outside of the school at each site. After the school has verified age eligibility and residence, parents or guardians will complete the Pre-K application and place the application in a secure container.
The drawing for this year’s Pre-K lottery will take place at each school at 1 p.m. To adhere to social distancing practices, only school administration will participate in the drawing onsite. All names will be randomly drawn. For most schools, the first 22 selected names will receive instructions to participate in the 2020-2021 Pre-K Program. All names drawn beyond the first 22 class spots at each school will be placed on a waitlist. For families attending Brooks, Moreland, Poplar Road, Welch, Canongate, and Eastside, 44 names will be selected before the waitlist begins.
New Student Registration
Parents of students who are new to the Coweta County School System can register their children for the 2020-2021 school year through a new online registration system.
