Coweta Students win Coweta-Fayette EMC Scholarships

Sixteen Coweta County students received a total of $42,000 in scholarships from Coweta-Fayette EMC.
Thirteen students received Melissa Segars Memorial Scholarships, worth $3,000 each; and three received Coweta-Fayette Trust Technical Scholarships, worth $1,000 each.
The Coweta-Fayette EMC Trust awards thousands of dollars in scholarships to local students each spring.
The Melissa Segars Memorial Scholarship recognizes high school seniors with a dedication to community service. The Coweta-Fayette Trust Technical Scholarship recognizes deserving students attending any Technical or Trade school in Georgia.
2025 Melissa Segars Memorial Scholarship recipients from Coweta County include: Matthew Carr, Lauren Griffin, Chloe Smith, Ava Woodward, Ryan Mayclin and Lily Fox – East Coweta High School; Katelyn Sullivan and Kate Howell – Newnan High School; Sidney Brown, Olivia Nguyen and Caleb Murray – Northgate High School; Anderson Embry – Trinity Christian School; and Caroline Mayfield –Coram Deo Classical School.
Coweta-Fayette Trust Technical Scholarship winners from Coweta County are: Tucker Hopkins – North Georgia Technical College; Jennifer Wilson – West Georgia Technical College; and Vo Yen Vy Le – Clayton State University.
In addition, Alexis Wingenbach, of Coweta County, was awarded the Walter Harrison Scholarship, a $1,000 award presented by Georgia EMC. This scholarship honors the legacy of Walter Harrison from Millen, Ga. Harrison was a community advocate and visionary leader in the electric cooperative movement at the local, state and national levels.
These scholarships are made possible through Operation Round-Up, a program in which Coweta-Fayette EMC members voluntarily round up their electric bills to the nearest dollar. The spare change supports local students, organizations and individuals in need.
