After a cold start today, the work week here in Coweta County will experience a warming trend which leads to a round of storms on Thursday, says the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

Yesterday’s high only reached 48 degrees at the Newnan-Coweta Airport mainly due to a Northwest wind which gusted as high as 28 mph around 3 p.m. Today will not be quite as windy and the winds move to the west which will help push the high temperature to around 56.

Tuesday’s high will be 62, followed by 67 on Wednesday before clouds and a strong cold front moves through early Thursday. The high on Thursday will be near 70 but showers and possibly a thunderstorm comes with the front with a rain chance listed at 90 percent during the day, 80 percent overnight.

The sun returns on Friday with a high of only 54 degrees as cooler temperatures remain in place. Saturday’s high is expected to be near 57 also under sunny skies.
