Drug Free Coweta, Local Nonprofits to Host Town Hall Meeting

From Special Reports
Drug Free Coweta, in collaboration with local nonprofits Coweta FORCE, West GA DV Shelter, Coweta Family Connection, and Family Patterns Matter, has announced a Town Hall meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 9 at 6 p.m. at the University of West Georgia Newnan campus.
Join us for an important event discussing recent legislative changes and growing community concerns. With Georgia’s recent legalization of marijuana dispensaries, including private pharmacies, and the alarming rise of vaping issues in K-12 schools, it is urgent to engage in meaningful discussions and propose effective solutions.
The objectives of the Town Hall meeting include:
1. Assessing the impact of the recent legalization of marijuana dispensaries, including private pharmacies, in Georgia.
2. Discussing the significance of these changes in shaping the state’s approach to cannabis.
3. Addressing and proposing effective solutions to the escalating concern surrounding vaping issues in K-12 schools, recognizing the need for attention and consideration in safeguarding the well-being of students and fostering a healthier educational environment.
4. Learn about Georgia’s current drug trafficking and enforcement capabilities, aiming to curb illicit drug activities and ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens.
“It is important that we come together as a community to engage in thoughtful and empathetic conversations. The upcoming Town Hall meeting provides an opportunity for all stakeholders to connect, share their unique perspectives, and brainstorm solutions that will prioritize the health and safety of our youth.,” said Matt Brass.
The event will feature expert speakers, panel discussions, and opportunities for community members to voice their concerns and ideas. Attendance is free and open to the public.
