Five Halloween events headline local calendar this weekend

As October winds down this week, the community calendar is back-loaded with five Halloween events on Friday and/or Saturday.
The Munchkin Masquerade kicks off the weekend’s Halloween happenings on Friday morning in downtown Newnan. There’s also two nights of Improv with “The Nightmare Before Halloween” at the Newnan Theatre Company (Friday and Saturday). Saturday events include the 6th Annual Oak Hill Cemetery Tour, Trunk or Treat! Halloween at the Chattahoochee Bend State Park and neighbor Peachtree City’s Fall Festival and Movie Night.

Oct. 29 – Munchkin Masquerade
One of the favorite events in the area. Main Street Newnan offers this downtown Trick-or-Treat for the little ones! The Munchkin Masquerade will take place beginning at 10 a.m. and end by noon.
Oct. 29-30 – A Nightmare before Halloween
Downtown Newnan
Two nights of Improv at the Newnan Theatre Company. The spookiest night of the year is almost here, but the funniest night of the year is even sooner! The Nightmare Before Halloween is Two Nights of Improv Tricks-N-Treat with your favorite N.I.T.W.I.T.S. and almost a dozen brand new faces from their Improv Workshop!
Oct. 30 – 6th Annual Oak Hill Cemetery Tour
Downtown Newnan
Meet those from Newnan’s past up close and personal during the 6th Annual Tour and “See the Cemetery in a Whole New Light” with a live, in-person tour date. All tours include dinner, live music, McRitchie Haunted Mansion tour and an unforgettable guided walk through the cemetery’s historic Presbyterian section.
Oct. 30 – Trunk or Treat! Halloween at the Bend
Chattahoochee Bend State Park
Join the fun in the Chattahoochee Bend State Park Campground 1! There will be a campsite decorating contest, a costume contest, and trunk or treating around the campground. The event starts at 6 p.m.
Oct. 30 – Fall Festival and Movie Night
Drake Field, Peachtree City
Hosted by the PTC Recreations Department. Attendees can enjoy an afternoon of fall fun followed by a movie under the stars. Food, games, fall photos, and a costume contest! When the sun sets, grab a seat and some popcorn to enjoy the Halloween Classic-Hotel Transylvania.
Live music around Coweta County this weekend includes the Pete & Pete Band (Friday) and The Band O.N.E. (Saturday) at The Cellar; Drivin N Cryin (Friday) at the Brickhouse Newnan Grille & Tavern; Hunter Callahan (Friday) and Block Party Band (Saturday) at Grazing Here in Peachtree City; JT Murphy (Friday) at The Mad Mexican; Barefoot Nina (Friday) at SummerGrove Golf Club; and Chase Tibbetts (Friday) at the Brickhouse LaGrange.
In sports, the Atlanta Braves return to the World Series for the first time since 1999 and face the Houston Astros. Games 1 and 2 are in Houston today and Wednesday; then Games 3, 4 and 5 will be in Atlanta at Truist Park.
The Atlanta Falcons host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday in Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Atlanta United entertains Toronto FC at the Benz on Saturday while the Atlanta Hawks are in Philadelphia on Saturday night. And in college football, it’s Georgia-Florida week in Jacksonville on Saturday while Georgia Tech hosts Virginia Tech.
