Information Session on Newnan’s Water supplies set for Carnegie on Aug. 23

The Newnan Carnegie Library will host an Information Session on local water supplies and how those supplies are taken care of.
This free event will be on Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 2:30 p.m. at the Newnan Carnegie Library. Featured speakers will be from the Newnan Engineering Department, Keep Newnan Beautiful, Newnan Utilities and the Chattahoochee River Keepers. A question-and-answer segment will also take place.
“Water is one of the most important resources we have, and getting to know more about how our community’s water gets handled is imperative,” says Anthony Urda, the Newnan Carnegie Library Adult Event Coordinator.
Those appearing at the event are listed below.
City of Newnan Storm Water and Engineering – Rob Hill, Storm water inspector, and Sam Henriquez, Water Resource Engineer. They will discuss and share information on how the city addresses water issues with their positions. Topic items will be storm drains; floodplains; water runoff etc.
Keep Newnan Beautiful – Learn how recycling and litter prevention can help keep our local water clean. Other topics such as bagging trash, yard waste disposal, planting native plants, things residents can do to help keep the environment/water clean and reduce their water usage.
Chattahoochee River Keepers – Ashley Desensi, Technical Program Specialist with the CRK Lagrange office will have a short presentation that highlights their water sampling programs and talk briefly about trash traps and rain barrels.
Newnan Utilities – Will have information about current water supply.
