Possible East Coweta, Northgate Redistricting Discussions Tonight, Thursday

From Coweta County Schools Press Release
The Coweta County Board of Education is considering a redistricting of approximately 400 to 450 students from the East Coweta High School district into the Northgate High School district, to take effect in the 2021-22 school year following a classroom expansion at Northgate High School.
The superintendent has scheduled meetings for public discussion and comment on this proposal, with plans to make a decision no later than December of 2019. The Superintendent has also met with the East Coweta and Northgate High School Councils to share information regarding this plan.
Interested parents are also being invited to attend either of two public discussion and feedback sessions to be held at Northgate and East Coweta High Schools:
Tuesday, October 1 – Northgate High School Cafeteria, 6 p.m.
If approved, redistricted areas would be drawn from neighborhoods between Georgia Highway 34 and Lower Fayetteville Road, though such a redistricting would not involve all neighborhoods in that area. Rising 10th through 12th graders in the year of implementation (2021-2022) would be grandfathered, and would be allowed to stay at East Coweta High if the families provide transportation.
This proposal is being considered in order to provide room for student enrollment growth and better utilize facilities at Coweta County’s high schools. East Coweta High is currently Coweta County’s largest and fastest-growing high school.
Though these meetings are being held at Northgate and East Coweta, parents of students at either high school or any middle school, and any interested Coweta residents, may attend either session. Information and a public survey regarding this proposal will also be placed online at www.cowetaschools.net.
