Random Productions has been given approval by the City of Newnan for the filming of an HBO Film Project which will require closing a section of LaGrange Street in the evening on Tuesday (Oct. 1) and Wednesday (Oct. 2).

The closure will be essentially one block of LaGrange Street between South Court Square and Spring Street where businesses such as Dragonfly Running Company, Smart Solutions, Murphey Florist and Carnegie Library reside. This section will be closed to traffic, including all lanes and parking spaces, from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Crews have begun preliminary site work in downtown Newnan and will continue through Tuesday’s film shoot. All work should be completed regarding the shoot on Thursday, Oct. 4.

According to a press release from the Georgia Department of Transportation, signage will be placed in all directions in advance of the closure and motorists should be alert to the detours in place. A local area detour will maneuver passenger vehicles immediately around the closure, but drivers of large trucks passing through the area will be directed to utilize the Newnan Bypass.

Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through the area. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the free Georgia 511 app.
