Good morning Newnan family,

To whom much has been given, much is required.  When I first arrived on the Newnan High School Campus for the first time over 15 years ago, I had no idea how much I would one day love being part of the Cougar family.  Serving the last ten years as your principal has been an honor.  This truly is the hardest job you could ever love.  You have challenged me, supported me, and inspired me.   Change is never easy, but I truly believe we cannot grow without change!

It is bittersweet to share with you that I have accepted the position as Director of Instructional Services and Gifted Education for the Coweta County School System and this morning at a called board meeting the CCSS Board of Education approved the superintendent’s recommendation.  Together as a school and as a system, we have come so far and we have overcome so much.   We also have much more great work to do together!  I have no doubt Newnan High School will continue to be the school on the hill that serves every part of our community with pride, with integrity, and with spirit!  While I am envious of the next principal of Newnan High who will have the opportunity to guide our community through the next exciting chapter of our school’s history, I know our legacy is strong, our foundation is sure, and our future is bright!

We have come so far as a team and I know that the Cougar Nation & the CCSS will continue to exceed all odds, overcome all adversity, and be a beacon of hope for all who cross our paths.  Together, we have weathered storms and beat the odds!  We have also had the unique privilege of designing a fantastic, state of the art campus that will proudly serve our community for the next 75 years and beyond. I am honored to have had the opportunity to serve our community together with you. I truly believe our best days as a school and as a school system are ahead of us and I’m grateful to our superintendent and our school board for the continued privilege of serving our phenomenal school system! I hope I will continue to make you proud to be a Newnan Cougar!

Let’s keep pressing on and together we will finish this year strong!  Take care of kids.  Take care of each other.  Take care of our community.  Our students and especially the graduating class of 2023 deserve our best these last few days of school.  I leave you with the same challenge I try to always give our graduates when they stand tall before me under the bright lights of Drake Stadium at graduation, filled with their hope for the future and memories of their time together at Newnan!  Do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly…and make it fun!

Sincerely,

Chase Puckett, Proud Principal
Once a Newnan Cougar,
Always a Newnan Cougar
