Revamped Taste of Newnan set for Thursday; begins at 5 p.m.

From Staff Reports
The revamped version of the 2019 Taste of Newnan takes place on Thursday, April 11 around the Courthouse Square in downtown Newnan.
A crowd of nearly 8,000 is expected for this annual event, which begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m.
The National Weather Service in Peachtree City says the weather should be excellent for the evening with mostly sunny skies and a high around 79 degrees at the start. Winds will be from the southeast at 10-15 mph.
This year’s Taste of Newnan will be held only once. In year’s past, this was a twice-a-year happening – in the spring and fall.
Another change is no tickets will be needed as event-goers will pay each vendor in cash – some will take credit cards. Each taste (small food portions or drink) will range in price from $1-$6.
And finally, folks attending the Taste of Newnan will see the closing of Greenville Street, north from Spring Street to East Washington Street. East Broad Street will also close from Perry Street west to Jackson Street. Street closings will begin at 3 p.m., according to the Newnan Police Department. Detours north will be on Perry Street.
Essentially, this year’s event will have a new footprint and will take place on North, South, East and West Court Square, East Broad Street and Greenville Street. The maps below depict the Taste of Newnan layout and traffic patterns.
“The Taste of Newnan is a fun-filled, family event that is hosted along the square in downtown Newnan, where the entire community is invited to sample menu items from our fantastic restaurants and caterers,” said Abigail Strickland, Special Events Coordinator for Main Street Newnan.
Entertainment will be provided during the event featuring family-friendly, live music by The Wyatt Band. A new activity zone – created by the above street closings – will be along Greenville Street and will be equipped with games, rides, inflatables and more.
