Weekend Weather: Cloudy, warm with possible strong storms Sunday

The weekend weather here in Coweta County will be warm and cloudy on Friday and Saturday with a possibility of strong thunderstorms on Sunday.

The National Weather Service says to look for mostly cloudy skies and highs near 80 degrees today and tomorrow. On Sunday, a cold front will push through in the morning accompanied with showers and thunderstorms, some could be severe. Rain chance is at 90 percent with winds expected at 15-20 mph, gusting to 30.

Below is a day-by-day breakdown of the local weather by NWS (as of 6 a.m.):

TODAY – A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 9 a.m. Cloudy, with a high near 79. South wind 5 to 10 mph.

FRIDAY NIGHT – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph.

SATURDAY – Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. South wind 5 to 10 mph.

SATURDAY NIGHT – A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

SUNDAY – Showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 8 a.m. Some of the storms could be severe. High near 76. South wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

SUNDAY NIGHT – A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47.
