Southern Staging: Refresh Your Living Space

By Nan Johnston, Southern Staging & Redesign
Now that the holidays are behind us and the holiday décor is put away (or mostly put away), you may want to refresh your living space but not really sure how to do so.
Believe it or not, depending on your budget one has a few options to many.
$100-500 budget – Let’s say you have a gift card or cards burning a hole in your pocket and you want to use it for your space.  A good way to start is to declutter the room, re-arrange the furniture, paint or purchase a new piece of art, throw pillows or even a rug.  New lamps are a great way to update a room and solid window panels can soften up some of those hard edges in a space.
$1,000 – 2,000 budget – This is one way to spend your income tax returns.  After decluttering, updating the wall color and re-arranging furniture, adding “healthy” plants, replacing a few pieces of tired worn out furniture or updating the built-in lighting is a great way to freshen up a space. Add dimmer switches to your overhead lighting and perhaps increase the quality of the above mentioned purchases.  Reupholstering old chairs or sofas that are still in good shape can also be and option and a great way to update color of fabric choices.

Refreshing your living space doesn’t have to be an expensive project unless you want it to be.  No matter what your budget, there is a resource or store selling these suggested purchases in all price ranges.  Go out there and have fun with it.  What would like to change in your living space?
