Not as many events are scheduled this weekend in and around Coweta County. The focus is on Holiday Shopping as it begins in earnest today.

Highlights include Plaid Friday and Santa on the Square tonight in Newnan, followed by Small Business Saturday in both Downtown Newnan and Downtown Senoia on Saturday.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City says there is a slight chance of rain (20%) on Friday and Sunday, and it increases to 60% on Saturday. The high Friday is 49 while the highs on Saturday and Sunday will be in the low 60s.

FRIDAY, NOV. 23

Plaid Friday
The holiday shopping begins today as Plaid Friday hits the streets in Downtown Newnan. The name “Plaid Friday” celebrates the idea of LOCAL! Customers can wear plaid attire during Plaid Friday and expect to SAVE, as numerous downtown businesses will offer a significant discount to anyone wearing Plaid clothing.

Crumpton Furniture After- Thanksgiving Sale
It’s the annual After-Thanksgiving Weekend Sale at E. Crumpton Furniture in Fayetteville on Friday and Saturday. Doors will be open from 10 am to 6 pm on both days. Customers can save from 40 to 50 and up to 75% off furniture and bedrooms.

Santa on the Square
Takes place from 6 – 8 p.m. Santa will arrive downtown in a Fire Truck and immediately light the Christmas tree located on the Court House Square. After the lighting of the Christmas tree, children are invited to sit on Santa’s lap and read him their Christmas list! This event is open to the public and free of charge and welcomes children of all ages.

High School Football State Playoffs

Only one Coweta County prep football team remains after several weeks of state playoff action. Heritage School is in action tonight here in Newnan in the GISA 3A State Semifinals. The winner plays for the State Championship next week.

Small Business Saturday
Shop Small Y’all – Small Business Saturday – is set for both Downtown Newnan and Downtown Senoia. Small Business Saturday is an annual shopping tradition dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country. Small Business Saturday was founded by American Express in 2010 and is celebrated every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This event supports the local economy and promotes our community.

Eye-Spy Camera Scavenger Hunt at The Bend
New Eye-Spy Camera Scavenger Hunt Saturdays in November at the Chattahoochee Bend State Park from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Bring your camera and take a look around our park for the items on our scavenger hunt list. Take a picture with each item on our list and bring your completed list and pictures to the office to claim your prize.
