Tuesday: Coweta posts 41 new cases, 4 hospitalizations

The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Tuesday, Dec. 15.
COWETA COUNTY CASES
Coweta County confirmed 41 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday with 4 hospitalizations and 0 deaths. It’s the 7th straight day Coweta has been above 30 cases (longest stretch since pandemic began) and the 32nd consecutive day in double-digit cases.
For the month of December, the county has posted 590 cases for an average of 39.3 per day with 4 deaths and 15 hospitalizations. The 39.3 daily rate is ahead of the high mark for a month which was 30.7 in August when Coweta had 953 cases.
The age group of 45-54 year olds had 10 new cases confirmed on Tuesday, the highest of any group.
To date, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 4243 cases, 72 deaths and 192 hospitalizations.
The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Coweta is 8.4 percent, and in the last two weeks, is rising at 12.3 percent.

GEORGIA CASES
On Tuesday, Georgia confirmed 4812 cases – which is the 6th-highest single day total since the coronavirus began. Other Tuesday numbers included 32 deaths, 374 hospitalizations and 37 ICU admits. The last time Georgia had at least 374 hospitalizations in a day was on July 31 with 386.
Presently, there are 2968 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID, which is 19.1 percent of all statewide hospital patients. The number of In-Patient Hospital Beds in use across the state is 12,254 or at 81.4 percent capacity. ICU bed occupancy is 2488 or 84.9 percent capacity. Adult Ventilators in use in GA is presently at 874 or 30.7 percent capacity.
Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 484,152 cases, 9250 deaths, 38,111 hospitalizations and 6896 ICU admits.
The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Georgia is 9.5 percent, and in the last two weeks, it stands at 12.7 percent.
Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (6062 on Dec. 10); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
