Friday: Coweta reports 18 new cases of COVID-19

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Friday, Sept. 18.

Today, Coweta County confirmed 18 new cases of COVID-19 in Friday’s report with no deaths or hospitalizations. It is the 5th consecutive day for Coweta to be in double-digits for new cases.

Friday’s 18 cases push the Coweta cumulative total to 2483, up from Thursday’s sum of 2465. The overall positive rate for tests in Coweta is 8.7 percent. Other cumulative totals to date include 40 deaths and 121 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Statewide on Friday, Georgia confirmed 1834 new cases, down 13 from Thursday’s total. It is the 34th consecutive day below 3,000 cases. Other Friday numbers included 63 deaths, 149 hospitalizations and 21 ICU admits.

Presently, there are 1419 people hospitalized in Georgia with COVID-19, down 25 from Thursday.

Overall, Georgia now has cumulative totals of 302,737 cases, 6537 deaths, 27,203 hospitalizations and 4966 ICU admits. The overall rate for positive tests is 10.2 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
