Thursday: Coweta tops 2,800 cases of COVID-19

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Thursday, Oct. 15.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

Coweta County confirmed 24 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday with no deaths and 1 hospitalization reported. Today’s 24 cases pushed Coweta’s cumulative total over 2,800 and were the most in a single day since 25 on Oct. 10.

To date, Coweta has registered cumulative totals of 2807 cases, 58 deaths and 142 hospitalizations. The overall positive test rate is 8.1 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 5.5 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (66 on Aug. 26); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

GEORGIA CASES

Across the state on Thursday, Georgia confirmed 1640 cases (up 343 from Wednesday’s totals), 22 deaths, 163 hospitalizations and 34 ICU admits. That’s the most number of cases in a single day since 1720 on Sept. 30. It’s the 26th consecutive day Georgia has been below 2,000 cases in a day, the 61st straight day below 3,000.

Presently, there are 1,321 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID, down 4 from Wednesday.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 336,241 cases, 7492 deaths, 30,081 hospitalizations and 5580 ICU admits. The overall positive test rate is 9.7 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 5.5 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
