TV: Hawks advance to NBA Eastern Conference Finals

From Staff Reports

The Atlanta Hawks made a little history for itself on Sunday night, winning a Game 7 on the road for the first time in franchise history.

The Hawks took a 103-96 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers in Philly Sunday night to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2015. Atlanta now faces the Milwaukee Bucks for another Best of 7 series with the winner heading to the NBA Finals.

This week, all four Atlanta professional sports teams that are in season will appear on television (June 21-27).

In baseball, the Atlanta Braves took 3 of 4 games from the visiting St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend. The Braves are in New York to face the National League East first-place Mets for a four-game series starting with a doubleheader this evening. Following the Mets series, the Braves continue on the road for another four-game set at the Cincinnati Reds. Atlanta stands at 33-36 overall, 5 games back of the Mets.

Atlanta United returned to the pitch after a lengthy break on Sunday, but couldn’t hold on to a 2-0 lead and settled for a 2-2 draw with the visiting Philadelphia Union. United is now 2-1-5 with 11 points, good enough for 9th place in the MLS Eastern Conference. Atlanta plays twice this week, on Wednesday at New York City FC and then back at home on Sunday vs. the New York Red Bulls.

The Atlanta Dream returns to action also on Wednesday after a week off. The Dream is 5-7 on the season and is tied for 9th overall in the WNBA Standings. Atlanta hosts the Minnesota Lynx on Wednesday, then New York Liberty on Saturday.
