UGA Master Gardener Training Program offered in January 2022

From Special Reports
Is gardening your favorite past time? Do you get excited just visiting a nursery? Would you like to learn more about horticulture while volunteering to help others with their gardening questions?
If your answer was yes to any of these questions, you may be a candidate for the University of Georgia’s Master Gardener Extension Volunteer (MGEV) program in Coweta County.
The MGEV Program trains volunteers to be better gardeners who can assist UGA Extension agents with educating the public about horticulture and environmental stewardship. These volunteers provide Coweta County residents with research-based gardening information to help solve their gardening issues.
Coweta County MGEVs are actively involved throughout our county. They volunteer at the Extension Office; answer questions at many local events (look for the “Ask the Master Gardener” table); provide gardening presentations to local community groups; and coordinate fundraisers that support youth education and scholarships. MGEVs have fun while providing a great service to the community.
The Coweta County MGEV Training Program will be held every Thursday from Jan. 7, 2022 until March 31, 2022 at the Coweta County Extension Office, 255 Pine Road, Newnan, Georgia. Class times will be 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break (on your own). The cost of the training course is $200, which includes all classroom materials and supplies.
For an application, please email Karen Mansour at [email protected]. You may pick up an application at the Coweta County Extension Office.
For more information, you may also call the Extension Office at 770-254-2620.
I’m interested in the Master Gardening Program. Please let me know what I need to do to enroll in the program.
