Weather: Hot, Hot, Hot all week in Coweta

A week’s worth of 90-degree temperatures started on Sunday and should continue through next weekend, says the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.
Sunday’s high recorded at the Newnan-Coweta Airport weather station was 90 degrees. The extended forecast calls for high temperatures of 96 today, 94 on Tuesday, 95 on Wednesday, 93 on Thursday, and 92 on Friday and Saturday. Mix in some humidity and the heat index for today will be as high as 102 degrees and 104 on Tuesday.
There is a chance for afternoon pop-up showers and thunderstorms each day of the week, highest on Tuesday and Wednesday at 40 percent.
Overnight lows will be in the lower 70s.
