Weather: More rain, storms arrive Tuesday, Wednesday

Another round or two of possibly strong to severe storms is again on tap for this week’s extended weather forecast in Coweta County, says the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

It’s the fourth consecutive week for rain on either Tuesday or Wednesday for Coweta, the third straight week for the potential of severe storms. 

The work week starts with a mostly sunny Monday and a high temperature of 76 degrees. 

Late Tuesday morning brings a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Rain chances increase from 60 percent to 100 percent throughout the day as a warm front stays just to the north of I-20. Heavy rainfall, wind gusts to 20 mph and the possibility of an isolated tornado is possible. Rainfall amounts are expected to be between one and two inches.

After a mostly cloudy start to Wednesday morning, another set of storms associated with a cold front moves through in the afternoon. Rain chances begin at 30 percent and increase to 60 percent that evening. A chance of strong to severe storms is again possible with winds gusting to 20.

The rain moves out Thursday as sunny skies return in the afternoon with a high of 69. Cooler temperatures return with a high Friday of 59 and Saturday of 58. Overnight lows will be in the mid-30s.

MONDAY –  Mostly sunny, with a high near 76. East wind around 5 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.

MONDAY NIGHT – Mostly clear, with a low around 50. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph.

TUESDAY – A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 11am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 68. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

TUESDAY NIGHT – Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 7pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 7pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

WEDNESDAY – A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 79. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT – A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 8pm and 2am, then a chance of showers after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

THURSDAY – A 30 percent chance of showers before 8am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 69.

FRIDAY – Mostly sunny, with a high near 59.

SATURDAY – Mostly sunny, with a high near 58.
