From Staff Reports

The Labor Day Weekend has finally arrived as summer begins to wind down here in Coweta County.

As you would expect with a weekend holiday, there’s not a lot of events set for the four-day weekend. Downtown Newnan appears to be the epicenter for most of this weekend’s activities.

On Friday, it’s the annual Labor Day Sidewalk Sale in downtown Newnan plus Early Packet Pickup for the Sunrise on the Square 5K Race at Dragonfly Running Company. A three-day Hot Air Balloon Festival begins at nearby Callaway Gardens and all six local high school football teams are in action, with the big game – Newnan at Northgate.

The Annual Sunrise on the Square 5K Road Race kicks off Saturday’s events with proceeds benefiting the Newnan Boys and Girls Club. And check out Coweta’s Longest Yard Sale and Craft Show along Highway 34 West beginning near Hemrick’s.

On Sunday, a Hike and Paddle is set for the Chattahoochee Bend State Park and the second performance of the weekend of “The Jungle Book” will be at Serenbe Playhouse.

And finally on Monday, the Labor Day Arts Festival will take place around the downtown Newnan Square as of 50 artists will be selling their local art.

For more events, check our Facebook page by clicking: https://www.facebook.com/pg/wintersmedia/events/.

Weather-wise, the National Weather Service says to expect mostly sunny skies with highs near 90 degrees each day through Labor Day. A 30 percent rain chance is in the forecast for Sunday, and 20 percent on Monday. The latter part of the weekend forecast could change depending on the path of Hurricane Dorian presently in the Atlantic Ocean.

Below is the day-to-day listing of events in the area. To have your event published, please email [email protected].
