Headlining events this week in-and-around Coweta County include Southern Holiday Stories at the Newnan Carnegie, Holiday Sip & See in downtown Newnan, the opening of Sweetland on Ice plus we have the local music calendar.

November 15, TUESDAY

The Other Night School: Are We Really What We Eat?

With Dr. Janet Genz, UWG Associate Professor of Biology 6 p.m. reception, 6:30 p.m. talk at UWG-Newnan campus. Join Dr. Genz as she discusses how we can shape animal feeding and nutrient use in order to optimize agricultural production, as well as how we might better understand our own dietary choices. 80 Jackson Street, Newnan. November 17, THURSDAY

Children’s Craft Day at The Newnan Carnegie

Southern Holiday Stories at The Newnan Carnegie
Join the Newnan Carnegie Library and Hometown Novel Nights from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. as we discuss “Southern Holiday Stories”, whether a book has a holiday theme or not, books make FANtastic holiday gifts. So read local! Our guests will be authors: Anne Armistead, Angie Gallion, Jacqueline Leigh, and Richard Proctor. Hear how they created their works, find out what inspires them, discover who they are, and how their experiences have been culminated in their books. Hosted by local author Scott Ludwig. Main Street Newnan Holiday Sip & See

Senoia Alive! After Five Summer Concert Series

Sweetland On Ice Opens
The Great Lawn at Sweetland Amphitheatre becomes a covered 5,500 square foot open-air ice-skating rink … a winter wonderland. Long Leaf Pine Hike at Chattahoochee Bend
Take a guided hike from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. along the Wild Turkey Trail (2.2 miles) and learn about the Long Leaf Pine Trees and pine beetles. You will also learn how prescribed fire rejuvenates the forest for the plants, animals and insects. Meet at the Visitor Center. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a water bottle. $5 plus $5 parking.
