Every January, we get excited about the chance to start again – whether the previous year was full of success and happiness, or tragedy and sorrow.

The truth is, it’s usually a little of both.  So, let’s remember that our present circumstances don’t determine where we can go, but where we can start.  And as Rick Warren puts it, “It’s a good time to begin ‘righting’ the story of your life!”

Melody Beattie writes, “The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written.”

“And ‘January 1st’ is the first blank page of your 365- page book called 2021,” said Brad Paisley. “Try to make it a good one!”

“On New Year’s Eve, the whole world celebrates the fact that a date has changed.  But perhaps we should celebrate the date on which WE HAVE CHANGED!  … Akilnathan Logeswaran

Anne Frank wrote, “What a wonderful thought it is that some of the BEST DAYS of our lives haven’t even happened yet!”    And George Elliott continues this by saying, “Its never too late to be what we might have been.”

According to Ellen Goodman, “We spend January 1st walking through our life, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done – cracks to be patched.  Maybe this year we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives, not looking for flaws but for POTENTIAL.”

But nothing paralyzes our lives like the attitude that things can never change.  We need to remind ourselves that God can change things.  Our outlook determines our outcome.  If we see only problems, we will be defeated; but if we SEE THE POSSIBILITIES, in the problems, we can have victory!” … Warren Wiersbe

Ben Franklin sums it up this way.  “Let us be at war with our vices, at peace with our neighbors, and let every New Year find us to be a better person.”

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away, the new is here.”  … Second Corinthians 5:17
