One of our favorite food joints may have some new management. There’s a sign up at Bee’z Eat’s offering to sell a “turn-key” operation. That includes training by Bee’z himself and purchasing his proprietary recipes. We can tell you the Mac and Cheese alone is worth some serious cash. We will continue to follow this, because we are talking about an institution here.

For the third consecutive year, Northgate High brought home a GHSA State Cheerleading Championship after claiming the 6A title. Head Coach Sarah Frazier has built quite the dynasty as her Northgate cheerleading squads have now won eight state championships in the past 11 years. Northgate won five straight 4A titles (2007-2011), then after a three-year drought, captured one 5A championship (2015) and the last two 6A crowns (2016-17).

The Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, which adds a penny in sales tax, will stay on the books for another six years. County residents approved extending the tax, which begin in 1986, with about 65 percent of the vote. However, less than 10 percent of eligible voters cast ballots. Tsk, tsk. The estimated $140 million in revenue will go to pay for pre-approved capital projects.

May not need the mowers anymore. The Coweta County Board of Education is seeking bids for artificial turf at the three public high school football fields. This doesn’t mean the board will actually make the switch, but it gives them the opportunity to look at the costs, as well as pros and cons.

Piedmont Newnan Hospital was one of 832 hospitals nationwide, and one of only 14 of the 74 graded hospitals in Georgia, to receive an “A” for its commitment to keeping patients safe and meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S., based on a recent study. The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit health care ratings organization, assigns letter grades of A, B, C, D and F to hospitals nationwide based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms and provide the most complete picture of patient safety in the U.S. healthcare system. “Patient safety is our number one priority,” Mike Robertson, CEO of Piedmont Newnan, said. “Leapfrog’s Hospital Safety Grades help people make informed decisions when choosing where to seek medical care. Achieving this top grade demonstrates our commitment to creating a superior and safe experience for our patients.”
