2019 Kiwanis Coweta County Fair starts 11-day run

The 2019 Kiwanis Coweta County Fair began its 11-day slate here in Newnan on Thursday as the Midway Preview kicks off the event.

Gates open at 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday with daily admission of $5 per person (children 5-and-under are free). Folks can get up to five free admissions Thursday (Sept. 19) and Monday (Sept. 22) with the front page coupon in the September issue of The Paper. It can be shown digitally as well.

Carnival rides and Food Booths will be the only attractions open on the event’s first day. The Exhibits and Exhibit Hall open on Friday.

Fair hours will be Monday through Thursday, 5 – 11 p.m.; Fridays, 5 p.m. – midnight; Saturdays, Noon – midnight; and Sundays, 2-10 p.m. The Exhibit Hall and Ag Building close at 10 p.m. nightly and the Animal Exhibits close at 9 p.m. The Fair ends on Sunday, Sept. 29.

Ride armbands are available for purchase at the fair which give customers unlimited rides on the day of issue. For Sunday through Thursday, Ride Armbands are $25. For Fridays and Saturdays, Ride Armbands are $30. Individual tickets for rides are also available during normal fair hours. Cost of rides vary.

Shows this year include Sam’s Path Exotic Petting Zoo, Southeastern Reptile Rescue, Rust & Flame Blacksmith, Donald White the Science Guy, Captain Jim, Haai Inc. Shark Encounter, plus Animal Exhibits, Live Music, Contests and so much more.

Weather is always a factor during the Coweta County Fair. The National Weather Service in Peachtree City is giving an excellent forecast through Monday with no rain and highs in the low 80s today and Friday, and high 80s over the weekend.

The Newnan Kiwanis Club has sponsored the Coweta County Fair since 1947. All proceeds from the fair are contributed by the Kiwanis Club back into the community supporting various organizations with a major emphasis serving the children of Coweta County.
