9/11 Breakfast For First Responders
Special to Winters Media
The VFW and the VFW Auxiliary Post 2667 will hold the second Breakfast for First Responders with the help of Casey Smith and a lot of help from Miss Cile Smith of the Downtown Redneck Gourmet.
The breakfast will be prepared and boxed up for pickup with Redneck Biscuits, Dunc’s BBQ Brisket and some delicious Crumb Cake by Mrs. Lorraine Hopkins another VFW Auxiliary member.
Alan Jackson from Newnan wrote such a powerful song; “Where were you When the World Stopped Turning” so with the mural of Jackson, his hometown will be remembering the importance of that September day.
Funk said that she is shopping local this year and Arnall Grocery Company was very accommodating with many of the supplies needed. The morning ceremony in downtown will be brief and planned for social distancing. There will be no color guard.
The annual 9/11 Candlelight Vigil Ceremony is set to begin at the Veteran’s Memorial Park next to McKoon’s Funeral Home. The actual start time, according to Funk, will be at 6:55 pm. Bring your own chairs.
