Tuesday: Coweta posts 13 new cases, 3 hospitalizations

The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Tuesday, Nov. 24.

COWETA COUNTY CASES

Coweta County confirmed 13 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday with 3 hospitalizations and 0 deaths. It’s the 10th consecutive day the county has been in double-digits for cases and the 2nd time since Friday with 3 hospitalizations in a day.

Today, the age group of 15-24 year olds had the most new cases in the county with 5.

Other surrounding counties and case increases on Tuesday – Fayette added 18 cases, Carroll 10, Spalding 8, Troup 4, and Meriwether and Heard had 0.

For the month of November, Coweta has posted 454 cases for a daily rate of 18.9. There have been 4 deaths and 16 hospitalizations. This month is the 3rd-highest in cases for Coweta since the pandemic began, trailing August with 953 and July with 629.

To date, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 3467 cases, 67 deaths and 168 hospitalizations. The overall positive test rate is 7.8 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 8.4 percent.

Single-day highs now for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (67 on Nov. 17); deaths (4 on Aug. 13); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

GEORGIA CASES

Georgia confirmed 2424 cases on Tuesday (up 615 from yesterday), including 4 deaths (down 13), 185 hospitalizations (up 159) and 37 ICU admits (up 33).

Presently, there are 1,920 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID, up 12 from Monday which is 12.6 percent of statewide patients. The number of In-Patient Hospital Beds in use across the state is 12,051 or 79.8 percent capacity. ICU bed occupancy went down on Tuesday, decreasing by 165 from yesterday to 2391, which is 81.6 percent capacity.

Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 408,644 cases, 8648 deaths, 34,268 hospitalizations and 6414 ICU admits. The age group in Georgia with the most cases by far is 18-29 year olds with 100,776, followed by 30-39 year olds with 66,595.

The overall positive test rate is 9.2 percent, and in the last two weeks, it’s 7.7 percent.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
