From Can’t Never Could Press Release

The local nonprofit Can’t Never Could, Inc. is observing National Volunteer Week as a time to give some well-deserved recognition to all the volunteers who serve in our community.

“Whether serving on our all-volunteer board or serving on a one-time basis at one of our fundraisers, our volunteers have always been critical to us in carrying out the mission of Can’t Never Could,” said Co-founder and Board Chair Christi Estes. “With the recent tornado, we’ve seen once again how important volunteers are, especially to nonprofits like ours who are busy trying to serve those affected by the tornado.”

Can’t Never Could had long planned on hosting Meat the Need–A Charcuterie Event on April 23. When the tornado struck Coweta on March 25, the CNC board immediately started planning how they best could serve. They decided that net proceeds from Meat the Need will be given as grants to those suffering from cancer or other serious illness who were affected by the tornado.

Established in 1974 by a presidential order, National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to recognize the impact of volunteer service and the power of volunteers to tackle society’s greatest challenges, to build stronger communities and be a force that transforms the world. National Volunteer Week is sponsored by the Points of Light Institute, which encourages and organizes volunteerism on a community level. The institute began as a foundation, created in response to President George H.W. Bush’s inaugural speech in 1989, urging volunteers and community activists to become “a thousand points of light.”

Each year, National Volunteer Week is used to shine a light on the people and causes that inspire others to serve, recognizing and thanking volunteers who lend their time, talent and voice to make a difference in their communities. National Volunteer Week has grown exponentially each year, with thousands of volunteer projects and special events scheduled throughout the week.

Can’t Never Could, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation that is dedicated to helping individuals and groups who are facing adversity and personal battles. Through monetary donations, support, and faith in Jesus Christ, CNC aims to instill determination and hope in those who are experiencing these challenges. Can’t Never Could says it makes these contributions “with the desire to glorify Christ, who provides strength in all circumstances.”
