Can’t Never Could plans ‘Meat the Need – A Charcuterie Event’

Local nonprofit Can’t Never Could, Inc. has announced that it is postponing its Grey Matters Dinner Event, originally scheduled for March 8, until August 30. This year’s event will be known as the Founder’s Dinner in honor of the August 29, 1971 birthday of Rob Estes, who founded CNC along with his wife, Christi, following his diagnosis with glioblastoma in 2013.
Also, like many nonprofits trying to find creative ways to safely hold fundraisers in the time of COVID-19, Can’t Never Could has announced that it is hosting a new pickup dinner event on April 23, 2021. Meat the Need—A Charcuterie Event is designed to raise funds to support individuals and families battling cancer or other adversities.
The word charcuterie comes from a French term, chair cuite, which literally means “cooked meat.” Photographs of charcuterie have become popular on social media in recent years. The Meat the Need charcuterie boxes will serve two individuals, and they will feature both sweet and savory treats, a bottle of wine, a car coaster set and a booklet highlighting some of Can’t Never Could’s grant recipients who have graciously allowed their stories to be shared. The charcuterie boxes will be prepared by Life of the South Catering at 6 Lee St. in Newnan, where they will be available for pickup. For a fee, CNC will also deliver within 10 miles of downtown Newnan. Those purchasing delivery and those picking up will need to be 21 years of age or older. Pickup and deliveries will be available from 3-6 p.m.
“We are very excited about this event and think that it will be a huge success,” said Board Chair Christi Estes. “I’m hoping that all of our supporters will share it with their friends so that we can raise the much-needed funds.”
In 2020, Can’t Never Could served 70 families with grants to assist with non-medical bills or hotel stays during treatment. And comments from the recipients show that the grants are meeting a great need: “Thank you for your help. Some days, I wonder where my help will come from, but I’ve got to remember my Source. Bless all of you who are helping other folks.” “I didn’t see a way out, but God made a way.” “I am in a storm right now. I’m thankful for the hope that comes to me through your prayers.”
CNC also gave scholarships to six high school seniors who had been affected by cancer, and a scholarship to Squirrel Hollow Camp at the Bedford School in Fairburn was awarded to assist a student battling a learning difference. Additionally, CNC supported Coweta Fellowship of Christian Athletes with a grant to purchase Bibles.
Can’t Never Could, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation that is dedicated to helping individuals and groups who are facing adversity and personal battles. Through monetary donations, support, and faith in Jesus Christ, CNC aims to instill determination and hope in those who are experiencing these challenges. Can’t Never Could says it makes these contributions “with the desire to glorify Christ, who provides strength in all circumstances.”
